I would strongly suggest that anybody who hears reports on the purported “hackers-on-steroids” Anonymous to simply read the Wikipedia article on Anonymous.  The fact of the matter is that Anonymous is a large network of people who have the ability to do things on a grand-scale – especially when they focus their efforts.  They can sometimes be tempered into a sharp edge to deflate efforts they see as unjust.  They have also been known to “troll” (annoy and harass) individuals to the breaking point.  Consider them the mist and miasma.  They are the both sides of the force in one big collective hive.  Some taste the honey and some get stung.
